In a display of rich vocals, dancehall artiste Shenseea gave fans a taste of her vocal versatility while teasing her new track, Take It To The Head.
In the earlier years of her career, Shenseea first made a name for herself on the dancehall scene, deejaying on tracks such as Loodi featuring Vybz Kartel, and would later go on to prove her singjay capabilities on songs like Lighter with Tarrus Riley. The artiste would later show her interest in rap and a willingness to play with multiple musical genres, collaborating with American rapper Megan Thee Stallion on the Pop-Soca fusion track Lick. Earlier this year, the artiste expressed that while she would not be leaving the genre, she would be moving beyond dancehall.
“I told myself I’m gonna do Dancehall for five years. I have given myself to dancehall; I have given y’all hits upon hits…for five years bro… And I am not leaving dancehall because I could never…But I have such a bigger dream for myself ever since I was a child; I am going to achieve it, because at the end of the day, it is my life and it is what I want, and it is what I’ve always dreamt of,” Shenseea said.
The 26-year-old appears to have no plans to stop the chase of that dream and further showed off her range on Take It To The Head, a song the singjay says she has been working on for some time.
“Been taking my time perfecting this music the old school way. Take it to the head is one a dem! Creating w/ one a da best,” Shenseea wrote on Instagram, sharing a video of herself performing the song alongside a masked pianist.
Ding Dong Ravers and the Blessed singer’s former manager Romeich lauded her vocals in the comment section, with the latter writing, “From dj to signing and still can rap!!!!! Fucking best.”
