Shenseea Trending On Twitter For The Wrong Reasons
International female Jamaican artiste Shenseea is currently under heavy social media scrutiny for the songs that she has been recently releasing and even though the things said about the singer have been mostly harsh, some persons have chosen to stand up for her.
The criticisms took place on the Twitter platform, quickly becoming a trend with a lot of persons who listen to the artiste expressing themselves as if they were holding their tongues for this moment.
See top trending topics on the platform on Saturday below.
One fan with the Twitter handle @SuellaCee wrote that, “Shenseea’s new music isn’t good. It’s not even her. She already had an international appeal with her dancehall vibe and music, all she needed was more push and good marketing. For fans who knew her before this, it’s really hard for us to accept what we’re getting now”, while another who goes by the handle @Orlandohh said, “There are 73 pretty girls in America already making the music that Shenseea is trying to make. They’re also doing it a lot better than she. There has to be a better way”.
For those Tweets, the first one by @SuellaCee received 488 retweets while what was said by @Orlandohh was reposted 112 times, just to show how viral the criticisms went.
These tweets are obviously endearing and one might wonder just by seeing them if the entertained took the time out to give them a read especially since she had expressed on an Instagram live that for this year that she will not be letting things slide so easily as before.
Amid the harsh realities being uttered out by the disappointed Shenseea fans, one person who goes by the handle @_MVRIE_ was happy to stand up to the artiste’s defence by writing “I’m over the Shenseea hate. I’m proud of the steps she’s making. Y’all expect her to make the same music for America pop??? Smh”.
Since recently the entertainer has released several songs with a flare of Americanised culture, which has gotten most of her fans all riled up about her crossing over and almost discarding completely her former raw Jamaican vibes.
Some of Shenseea’s tracks that carry the new feeling and vibe are; “Run Run”, “Lick”, “You’re The One I Love” and “I Deserve It” from her “Alpha” album which she disclosed to the Radio Jamaica News program that she will be releasing on the 11th of March.
It seems, however, that the persons who have been finding an issue with the new version of the “Shengyeng” boss, are mostly her local fans and so that might just mean that “Alpha” might not be received as readily in Jamaica as it is expected overseas but we will need to wait and see what takes place since it is a well-known fact that people from the island are not known for buying music, and the singer would need the strength, especially in her first week of sales to make a Billboard impression.
By this reasoning, her choice of sound could be understood as a strategy to fully tap into other markets that are not so readily available to other Jamaican artistes.
