Smith and Wesson Pistol Seized in St. Catherine
The Jamaica Constabulary Force has once again successfully removed an illegal weapon from off the nation’s streets.
In a post made on Twitter, the lawmen reported the seizure of a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol along with 21 assorted rounds of ammunition.
The seizure was made during a multi-agency operation in St. Catherine on Friday.
This find follows a spate of recoveries that the lawmen have had, as they intensified the search for illegal guns as a part of the “#GetTheGuns” campaign. So far, the lawmen have recovered close to 100 illegal firearms since the start of the year, with 88 being seized in January alone.
Commissioner of Police; Major General Antony Anderson in a virtual media briefing on Tuesday revealed that they have recovered 59 pistols and 13 rifles, with the rifles being the “main implements” that the gangsters use to incite fear, death, mayhem, and pain. The pistols represented a 17% increase over the previous year.
Some users on Twitter have commended the police on the latest find and encouraged them to continue the war against these deadly weapons. One user even encouraged them to “Find the shotguns that those 2 cartridges are used in”.

One tweeter, while applauding the police, is also charging the lawmen to be quicker in their response to crime, that way, they can catch more of the criminals using these guns.
