After weeks of online attacks aimed at her relationship and her looks, Bromfield spoke out on Friday, revealing the derogatory comments and a death threat she has received. Many have since spoken out in defence of Bromfield, with Spice extending her support during a live stream on Instagram last night.

“I love you my Queen. I’m so proud of you, You are a Super Hero. Black sensation, Admiration, Black Perfection…………..I want to dedicate my song called “Mirror” from my Album #Mirror25 to you,” Spice wrote in the live stream’s caption and went on to reiterate those sentiments during her video.

Spice praised Bromfield for bringing attention to colourism and bravely speaking out. She said that people often pretend that it is not a real problem when she talks about it.

Delving into the details of what led to all the backlash, Spice expressed that Bromfield’s boyfriend, Noah Lyles, should never have spoken publicly about what she told him about Jamaican athletes.

“Unuh a crucify Junelle and unuh a chastise har and unuh a seh shi shouldn’t tell di man and shi dis and shi dat. Di wull a wi talk to wi man. Di wull a wi pillow talk [ … ] Di only wrong ting and di only difference is di man should neva come out and repeat what they spoke about,” Spice stated.

The artiste then questioned why people choose to attack Bromfield’s skin tone when they are upset about what she said. Spice, who has spoken out about colourism in the past, said people have also attacked her skin tone in the past.

“Mi neva pillow talk wid nuh man and unuh use to seh mi black till mi shine til mi look dirty. Mi affi write it in a song,” Spice said.

Highlighting Yohan Blake’s recent statements that he is more appreciated outside of Jamaica, Spice also expressed that Jamaicans do not appreciate their own unless they are successful. She added that Jamaicans love to tear each other down whenever they get the chance.

As she read comments justifying the backlash because Junelle is said to have betrayed Jamaica by sharing information, Spice questioned how people do not show their patriotism in other situations. The artiste specifically highlighted the millions stolen from Usain Bolt and the lack of backlash towards the parties responsible.

Jamaican actress and selector ZJ Sparks has also spoken out in support of Bromfield and said that while people can express their opinions they have gone too far.
