Dancehall artiste Leonard Bartley, professionally known as Merciless, will receive his final send-off as family, friends, and fans gather to celebrate the life and career of the veteran entertainer on Saturday.
Merciless’s final farewell began on September 15 in the artiste’s home parish of Clarendon, with a viewing at St. Gabriel’s Anglican Church Hall in May Pen. A prayer meeting, tributes, and reflection, as well as a wake, were also observed on the 15th in the Turners district.
A thanksgiving service for the deejay at St. Gabriel’s started at 10 a.m. this morning. Merciless’s remains were transported to the church in a carriage, and his white coffin was escorted into the building by pole bearers dressed in camouflage in honour of the entertainer’s preferred garb for his well-known clashes.
Mourners are expected to say their final goodbyes to the artiste at the proceeding interment at the family plot in Turners district.
Merciless was discovered unconscious inside a guest house off Beechwood Avenue in St. Andrew on July 19. The deejay was a legendary dancehall lyricist who rose to stardom in the 90s and soon became a household name in the reggae dancehall music scene.
