The Paris Games kicked off a few days ago on July 26 and notably, the fastest man this year Kishane Thompson who is one of the favourites to win gold in the Men’s 100m has been keeping a low profile at the games.
While fellow male sprinters Noah Lyles and Oblique Seville have been out and about, spotted in several videos, Thompson who is having his first Olympics experience is doing the opposite, intentionally staying away from the media.
Instead, his couch Stephen Francis has been doing the talking on his behalf. In one of the multiple interviews released of Francis since the start of the Olympics, he stated “I don’t understand; he ran 9.82, 9.84, and 9.77; not even Usain Bolt has ever had that in a series in a championship. I don’t see what everybody is worried about.”
He continues, ” I don’t think anybody else has done that. I haven’t checked everybody, but I’ve checked a lot, so I don’t see what everybody is worried about. I don’t think, based on his June shape, there is much to worry about.”
The video below of Oblique Seville asking what “buju mean” has been making rounds online.
The fastest sprinters this season are Kishane Thompson, Oblique Seville, Noah Lyles, and Ferdinand Omanyala.

So far, Kishane has only shared photos of himself at the games, in front of the signed for the games. Nevertheless, the cameras have been following him around, on Tuesday, TVJ shared a video clip with the heading “SPOTTED!” to paint a picture of his low-key approach so far at the games.
“Our cameras spotted fastest man in the world so far this year, Kishane Thompson at the athletics training facility in Paris, France today. Thompson, however, did not train and his coach Stephen Francis later told reporters that today was a designated rest day,” the caption for the post reads.
