Leon Bailey and Coach Hallgrimsson Believe Jamaica Can Qualify For Next World Cup in 2026 – Watch Interview

The Reggae Boyz and Mexico played to an entertaining 2-2 draw on March 26 at the Estadio Azteca Stadium in Mexico.

The match lived up to its billing as the Reggae Boyz was the quickest out the blocks, pressing the home team high up the park and creating some dangerous chances early on, culminating with Bobby Reid’s wonder goal from about 30 yards out.

Speaking on the match, in a post-match interview, Leon Bailey expressed that it was his first time playing in the stadium and the result was “bitter sweet” for the Boyz. Bailey went on to express that he believes that the Reggae Boyz has a huge opportunity to make the next World Cup.

Jamaica’s head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson, in his interview, went future than Leon when talking about World Cup 2026 possibilities. Hallgrimsson though “disappointed not to win” vs Mexico outlined that there is a lot of talent in Jamaica and that, “given the quality of the players… we can be very good.. not only reach the World Cup, I think we can do good things in the world cup in 2026.”
