Reggae Boyz vs Saudi Arabia this Saturday

Jamaica will be represented by a 23 man squash in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, November 14th against the Saudi Arabia football team in the first of two international friendlies.

The first match will take place at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium, match time will be 11:30 am Jamaica time.

The second match will take place on Tuesday, November 17th at the Same location with kick-off time also being 11:30 am Jamaica time.

Reports are that 14 of the players landed in Saudi Arabia days ago however the European players would have taken a day or two longer to arrive after which players must quarantine for 3 days.

The Reggae Boyz, coached by Theodore Whitmore now ranks at 48th position in the world Fifa Rankings as of 2020 which is an improvement on their 56th spot back in 2019.

Jamaica’s highest Fifa Ranking was back in 1998 when they qualified for the world cup, they ranked 27th then while on the other hand, the Boyz lowest ranking was 2008 when they dell to 116th spot.

Earlier in the year, we reported that the Bob Marley Foundation, which is led by Cedella Marley, engaged in a partnership with the (JFF) or Jamaica Football Federation, that is now aimed at assisting with the marketing and sponsorship generation for the Reggae Boyz, which is the national men’s team.  They are now preparing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Michael Ricketts the JFF president revealed that the JFF had been speaking with Cedella, and she expressed an interest in helping the organization to do more marketing of Jamaica’s football on the “international stage” in order to attract corporate entities and sponsors.
