Since its premiere on Sunday, September 4, 2022, Sorry has grasped the number one spot on Youtube’s trending in Jamaica chart for music and doesn’t seem to be letting go. The song’s viewing has long surpassed the number of followers that the young entertainer has gathered on YouTube and is now clocking 2,479,731 views with over 133 thousand likes on the platform.
Sunday marks two weeks since the song has taken over the music scene.
Stemming from the physical assault he reportedly suffered at the hands of two of his friends, Silk Boss decided to channel any misgivings he had about the incident in a productive way. This is how the track, produced by Ice Queen Records, came into being.
Silk Boss expressed some deep emotions and feelings when recording Sorry. In the song, he croons, “people nuh genuine. None of them nuh real, dem only come roun’ fi di benefit.” Touching on the subject of religion and feeling alone and helpless, the 20-year-old sings, “yah tell mi fi call pan e lord but when mi try it him nah answer mi, so mi chill innah e darkest place weh nuh light nah carry. Just me, myself, and nobody.”
Admiring the position the Surgery hitmaker chose, a viewer said, “I am a Christian and I don’t listen to dance hall. But this song speaks truth to life and the reality of it.” Another person stated, “Perfect example of when life knocks you down, you never give up – just get back up and go harder! Much respect to Silk Boss.”
