The Dancehall Queen Spice made an appearance on the Onstage program with Winford Williams recently, and she had some very interesting things to say about her Grammy nomination and the process of getting to the place where she now is.
According to the entertainer, the moment when she found out that she was nominated for a Grammy was filled with screaming from her family and spouse, however, it was something that the “So Mi Like It” deejay says she was planting seeds for a long time.
This target of hers, according to Spice was brought to fruition finally with the help of Shaggy who she also shouted out to in addition to Sean Paul for the “Go Down Deh” track, which has brought much attention to her career internationally.
As such the entertainer told Winford Williams that based on the songs that were released on the album she was expecting some form of recognition however, it was the last thing in the back of her head that she would end up getting a Grammy nomination.
Where it concerns the Dancehall Queen’s empowerment of women in the local space, she drew reference to Sting 2001, when she advocated for more females in the music business. Now in the music business for 22 years, Spice who said she started doing music when she was just 13, has made it to become the first hardcore female Dancehall artiste, to be nominated for a Grammy award.
Where the other persons going up for the coveted award is concerned, Spice says she is friends with all of them and it is just like family and with that being said she has expressed a feeling of gratitude and humbleness as it relates to her most recent accomplishment.
The female entertainer/businesswoman whose real name is Grace Hamilton says even if she does not win, the fact that she was even nominated is a victory within itself.
