Mr. Vegas Questions the Motives of Munga’s Attorney After Murder Trial Delay – Watch Video

Mr. Vegas has questioned the reasons behind Munga Honorable’s attorney’s unavailability for his trial following the announcement that the murder trial for the killing of Vegas’s nephew, Cleveland Smith, had been delayed to 2025.

Munga, born Damian Rhoden, and his co-accused, Sheridan Gordon, are currently facing charges for their alleged role in the 2017 murder of Smith. Munga’s trial was rescheduled in the Home Circuit Court on Monday for February 17, 2025, due to personal issues hindering his attorney, Christopher Townsend, from proceeding.

Reacting to the lengthy postponement, Mr. Vegas spoke about the ongoing murder case during an Instagram live stream on Wednesday, stating that justice delayed is justice denied. Vegas expressed that he would be choosing his words carefully and keeping his statement brief in order not to fall into a trap he believed Townsend had set for him.

Noting the vagueness of Townsend’s reasons for not being currently available, Vegas questioned if a court backlog had contributed to the 2025 postponement or if it was solely because of Townsend’s personal issues. Expressing his need for more information, Vegas also questioned if the trial dates for Townsend’s other clients, including Jennifer Messado and Noel Maitland, would also be postponed.

According to Mr. Vegas, he has refrained from speaking on the case until now because Townsend falsely accused him of speaking out in the past. The veteran dancehall artiste then posed the question of whether the current postponement of the trial was a tactic to “ware out the witnesses”.

Vagas assured the justice system that his family was watching the case keenly.

“In case yuh think that Cleveland Smith was just like a dog [ … ] or he had no one, or he had no family membas, mi just want yuh now seh mi a one a him family membas. And wi a watch the case keenly,” Vegas stated.
