Vybz Kartel No Longer Wearing Clarks?… Drives Cyber Truck in Panama

Vybz Kartel has been showing off his wealth and luxury brands on social media, but the artiste who paved the way for Clarks to flourish with a new generation of Jamaicans has not been spotted rocking the brand since his release from prison.
Kartel released his hit track Clarks in 2010, featuring his then Gaza Empire members Popcaan and Vanessa Bling, formerly Gaza Slim. While Clarks was a well-established British brand loved by Jamaicans both at home and in England, the company had not yet found its way into the hearts of a new generation of Jamaicans.
Amid the release of Kartel’s single, that quickly changed, with the brand instantly becoming a status symbol at parties and even schools. With its status as a symbol of wealth, sales surged in Jamaica, and the company has paid homage to its thriving Jamaican fandom on multiple occasions with its collaborations with Jamaican artistes.
Last year Clarks partnered with Popcaan for the first time, with the deejay releasing a new Wallabee design in November with the shoe manufacturer and retail company. While artistes such as Koffee and Lila Iké have worked with the company for their campaigns, Vybz Kartel is yet to partner with Clarks.
The brand has also partnered with Raheem Sterling on multiple occasions.
Despite Kartel being incarcerated for over a decade, some fans believe that the brand should have already reached out to the ‘Summer Time‘ deejay. One TikToker expressed in a video his belief that Kartel is refraining from wearing Clarks until the brand reaches out to him with a lucrative deal.
Kartel fans have since reacted to the video and have been sharing their thoughts online.
“Clarks isn’t smart. The moment he got release they should’ve Collab with him and do a limited edition design just for his upcoming show,” one viewer wrote.
“He helped push the brand fi true. Without any recognition for it 😢,” another stated, while another added, “Him deserve it all dem a gwaan because him make young people love Clark’s.”
One viewer highlighted that Kartel is not going to get a Gucci deal yet he is choosing to flaunt it.
“And he’s not going to get any Gucci money either.”
Another viewer expressed that major brands are very selective when choosing who they partner with.
“Kartel can stand on business all he wants but what you don’t understand about these large corporate entities is that they value their brand and are very careful about who they associate with so regardless of how much promotion he brought to the brand he is also associated with a terrible crime, and even though the case was eventually dropped the brand is not comfortable associating with known criminals… And I’m not saying that Clark’s said this, I’m just saying that this is possible,” the viewer wrote.
On the other hand, the Deejay has been in Panama for days now and his latest exciting endeavour was driving a Cyber Truck around in Panama City with the Mayor. “Chilling with the Mayor of Panama , Cyber Truck settings,” he wrote as a caption for his latest Instagram post.
Notably, he was wearing Jordan shoes and has been showing off multiple Jordans since his release.
