Both girls are said to have been corresponding with an unknown individual online, whom they decided to meet in Louisiana. The pair had nearly made it to the southeastern state when they decided to turn themselves in to the authorities. According to the New York Times, Larson and Gregory turned themselves into Mobile, Alabama, local police after seeing their missing alert on television in a convenience store.

Following Gregory and Larson’s disappearance and journey out of state, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is currently helping investigate the case and the individual the agency believes the girls were speaking with online. The authorities are also exploring the possibility that Gregory and Larson were being lured by a child sex trafficker.

Both girls have been safely returned to their Florida homes with their families.
