Clarendon native Jeff Fullyauto who started taking music seriously while attending Glenmuir High School is intent on surpassing his achievement so far in music. Notably, the singjay rose to prominence in Dancehall via his 2021 release titled ‘Big Guns’, which has racked up over 8.5 million views on YouTube and inspired one of the biggest songs in the genre over the past decade.

So far, Fullyauto has achieved 4 local/regional mega songs, travelling to several countries to perform including Guyana, Trinidad and Barbados, where he seemingly has a bigger or just as big fanbase as in Jamaica.

In a chat with Yardhype, the 23-year-old who was born on the 18th of January in 2001, details that he was inspired by the “entire” music fraternity, something that has helped in the diversity of his music with his latest released song being titled ‘God Mi Pray’, however, his next release will be a raunchy track for the ladies.

Born Jeffrey Grant Jr., Jeff Fullyauto has not only been diverse with his song topics but also his delivery, oftentimes singing a few bars and doing the background melodies/vocals for his own tracks as evident in songs such as ‘Dear God’ and ‘Dutty song’.

Yardhype had a questions and answers session with Jeff Fullyauto, see the questions and answers below:

Q: Why the name “Jeff Fullyauto”?
A: I got that name from high school, the Jeff is the shortening of my rightful name Jeffrey and the fullyauto is the description of a gun that fires rapidly, so that is a bit self-explanatory.

Q: When did you decide that you wanted to take on music full-time?
A: 6th form in High School.

Q: What Keeps You grounded, (Things you do to relax/chill) outside of music?
A: I spend a lot of time with family and friends.

Q: What do you love the most about Jamaica?
A: The food.

Q: Which do you hold in higher regard, and why: a Reggae Grammy Award or a song that peaks at #30 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart?
A: Not to be greedy, but I would prefer both because they are both monumental accolades, and my ambition is to strive to be the best in all aspects.

Q: ‘Big Guns’, ‘Dutty Song’, ‘Jericho’ and ‘Dear God’ are your top 4 most popular songs. List in order from 1 to 5 your most popular songs in your opinion.

4. Dear God
5. Nuh Taliban

Q: How do you usually come about your lyrics, write/freestyle and has the process changed over the years?
A: I watch my environment, then document it and write about topics that are in line with what i’m seeing or experiencing. No, my style of writing hasn’t changed but my writing has improved significantly over the years.

Q: What would be your reaction if you are asked to sing more in songs? like The Weeknd, Teejay and Fetty Wap type of vibe?
A: I like singing, so I would have no problem. I am a natural vocalist.

Q: Are any other of your family members in Music?
A: My brother, though he is not as established as I am.

Q: Any Plans to drop Album or EP in the near future?
A: Yes but no set date yet.

Q: Do you think nowadays Dancehall has the potential to outdo the Dancehall of the 90s(Shabba) or 2000s(Shaggy), also what do you believe will improve the reach of nowadays Dancehall aka Trap Dancehall?
A: I wouldn’t say nowadays Dancehall will outdo back-then Dancehall. Technology, society, thought processes and morals are being upgraded, so those changes bring a different flavour of music to Dancehall. It all comes down to how tolerant you are of the craft.
