Following Jamaica’s victory over Guatemala on Sunday, the Reggae Boyz will face off with Mexico on Wednesday. Sunday’s sole goal scorer, Amari’i Bell, among others, is expected to return for the Boyz’ clash for a spot in the Gold Cup final.
After a draw with the United States in their opening match, Jamaica has been undefeated in their last three games, beating Trinidad and Tobago, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Guatemala 4-1, 5-0, and 1-0, respectively.
With Jamaica likely to face intense competition from the Mexicans, Reggae Boyz’ captain Andre Blake, a veteran of four previous Gold Cup campaigns, is expected to be featured on the team’s 11-man squad. Except for their match against St. Kitts, Blake has been featured in the starting 11 of all the Boyz’ matches.
The lone goal scorers in Jamaica’s matches against the USA and Guatemala, Damion Low and Amari’i Bell, are expected to return. Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey, Everton’s Demarai Gray, and Di’Shon Bernard, who secured goals in Jamaica’s second and third Gold Cup matches, are also expected to be featured in the Boyz’ starting 11.
Additionally, Dextor Lembikisa, Kevon Lambert, Joel Latibeadiere, Bobby Reid, and Michail Antonio are anticipated to make appearances on the squad as well.
