After appearing at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court early Friday morning on August 12, Noel Maitland was remanded until August 22.
Maitland is a Police Constable and the boyfriend of former 876 Roommates host Donna-Lee Donaldson who has been pronounced dead. Maitland was implicated in her disappearance (as the last time she was heard from was at his New Kingston apartment) and was arrested on charges of her murder. It was indicated by the police that the investigation deduced that Donaldson was killed on July 12 between the hours of 4-8 pm.
His attorney, Christopher Townsend, stated that when he returns to court later in August, a bail application will be submitted. The prominent attorney told Observer Online that “the matter came up in court” and a date for August 18 was requested but as the judge would be unavailable for that time, the court will reconvene on August 22 and they will be “applying for bail on that occasion.” A fingerprint order was also made.
There are still multiple documents needed for the case that have not been submitted, and Townsend divulged that the only report that is readily available is the blood work report that was found at the scene of the crime. The attorney-at-law said that he finds it “interesting” that it took 4-5 forensic teams (all at different times) to locate the blood and “those things will be explored at the hearing.” Townsend also remarked, in response to a question posed by Observer Online, that he does not know of any reason in particular at the moment that the judge would deny the bail application.

Donaldson’s uncle, Neil Lugg, while airing his ire with the situation stated that he does not understand how the family of the deceased is not being kept up to date with the court proceedings and if not for the media house, he would not have known about the court hearing on Thursday, August 11. He went on to say “mi nah put up wid dah corruption yah weh a gwaan cuz mi nuh find my niece yet”
Lugg divulged that there was no representative for Donaldson present at the hearing and yet they are requesting a bail hearing.
