Shenseea Drops ‘Never Gets Late Here’ Album and ‘Flava’ Music Video, Hits 3 Million Subscribers on YouTube

Dancehall artiste Shenseea released her highly anticipated second album, Never Gets Late Here, on Friday. The sophomore album comes over two years after she released her debut album, Alpha, in March 2022.

Never Gets Late Here, produced by Rich Immigrants and Interscope Records, consists of 14 tracks that are expected to be laced with a mixture of Pop, Hip-hop, Dancehall, Reggaeton and Afrobeat. The album features five guest artistes: Masicka, Di Genius, Anitta, WizKid, and Coi Leray.

Coi Leray is features on the song titled Flava, adding a unique touch of Hip-Hop to the Dancehall track. Shenseea dropped the music video for Flava on YouTube at midnight, marking the fourth music video released for a song on her album.

Flava is a groovy song in which Shenseea and Coi Leray boast about being chased by men who shower them with gifts. Shenseea kickstarts the song in the first verse and then sings in the chorus before Coi Leray starts rapping in the second verse.

“Di boys dem all want me, dem gyal yah get salty, salty, we not talking spicy, spicy, it mek yuh wah bite me, bite me. Yuh just want di flava, flava,” Shenseea sings.

The music video begins with the sun rising beyond a mountain, scenes of the beach, and other typical sights in Jamaica.

Shenseea and Coi Leray can be seen shortly after, rocking bikinis in two different shades of blue. Later, the pair wear skimpy outfits as they have fun in a lush area. The fun continues with scenes of them at Jamaica’s Carnival and then at the beach.

Within 8 hours of the song’s release on YouTube, it garnered over 53,000 views. The music video has been receiving praise from viewers, one of whom expressed that the song sounds “damn good.”

Additionally, Shenseea has hit the milestone of 3 million subscribers on the digital streaming platform. The 27-year-old has celebrated a number of feats during her music career, including being a Grammy-recognised writer on Kanye’s Donda album, receiving four Grammy nominations, and her song Blessed, featuring Tyga, being certified gold in Canada.

Shenseea, whose music career catapulted after the release of her 2016 hit song Jiggle Jiggle, celebrated reaching 7 million followers on Instagram in March, and she is the third most followed Jamaican on the social media platform.
