Teejay’s EP Makes Debut on Billboard Reggae Albums Chart

Dancehall artiste Teejay has secured his first spot on the Billboard album chart, with his EP I Am Chippy making its debut on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart.
Teejay released I Am Chippy, his first EP, on February 2. Following its release, the ten-track project quickly made its debut on the Reggae iTunes Chart, claiming the No. 1 spot from Bob Marley’s posthumous album Legend.
I Am Chippy debuted at No. 9 on the Reggae Albums Chart.
Prior to its release, Teejay expressed that the EP was meant to showcase his growth. Its performance on the Billboard chart will no doubt be a testament to the artiste’s growth in the international market.
The Ep is Teejay’s first project since inking a deal with Warner Records last year and has claimed spots on music charts in the Caribbean, North America, and Europe.
Its latest charting achievement sees the EP becoming the first Dancehall EP to debut on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart this year.
On Tuesday, the From Rags To Riches artiste shared a celebratory post on his Instagram page. In addition to sharing a screenshot of the chart and a quote from one of the EP’s tracks, Star, featuring Jaydon and Quada, Teejay also thanked his fans.
The deejay went on to express that the project would soon break into the top five on the chart.
He wrote, “Amount a fight mi get mi show them love a wonder why them never like me yet mi lift mi voice up mi never lift a rifle yet so any wey mi go a Fada god a guide mi step mi believe inna faith from one room go to real estate bring a plate everybody get a slice of di cake born fighter any chain wey set mi break 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Thank Unu my fans respect @billboard top 5 see you soon.”
