Shericka Jackson Beats Elaine Thompson-Herah In 200m; Sets New Meet Record

Olympic medallist Shericka Jackson soared to victory to win the women’s 200m at the Wanda Diamond League in Rome today, June 9.
Jackson finished with a seasonβs best time of 21.91 seconds ahead of fellow Jamaican Olympic gold medallist, Elaine Thompson-Herah who finished with a seasonβs best of 22.25 seconds. In third place, British sprinter, Dina Asher-Smith followed with a time of 22.27 seconds.
The 27-year-old sprinter is also now the new meet record holder, as her impressive race in the women’s 200m diminished the 22.06 seconds meet record time that was previously held by the reigning World champion, Dina Asher-Smith.
The Golden Gala Pietro Mennea, an annual track and field event sent a congratulatory message on Twitter commending Shericka Jackson on securing the new title.
“Congratulation to the new meeting record holder!” it stated.
